Wandering in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is world famous.  It is seen as the pinnacle in terms of cities in South America, among the biggest and most impressive cities in the world, and I’m lucky enough to be getting a 3 day taste prior to a longer stay her after I return from Antartica and Patagonia.  Let’s give that sentence a paragraph.

I’m officially going to Antartica on February 6th.  I’ve booked, I’ve paid, I’ve visited the ship, I’ve even started to get outfitted.  Plus I won’t be going on a traditional cruise, instead I’ll be going on a sailboat, and instead of 10 days including just 3-4 on the continent, I’ll be going for at least 27 days, with about 20 on the continent and so much more flexibility. Also to make things cooler this is the boat that took the HBO VICE crew for there apparently famous documentary on Antartica.  You can find a link here.

So yes, I’m very excited and it also means my blog will go quiet for about a month, but then it will return with a vengeance.  Antartica people, get excited!

Now back to Buenos Aires, I spent a solid two days just wandering in the city seeing some of the main sights and getting lost in the beautiful city.  I felt at home quickly and collected lots of photos here.  But expect more thorough buenos Aires coverage when I return to buenos aires in march/april 2016.

I should also give a quick note to my comfortable and helpful hostel, hostel garden house,  located in San Telmo Barrio where you will find comfy beds, a warm welcome and a great location for the reasonable price of 120 (8 bed dorm)  140 ARS (4 bed dorm) this one is recommended.

Walking through town I covered the Barrio’s (neighbourhoods)  of San Telmo, Recoleta, Puerto Madryn, Montserrat, San Nicolas, and Retiro, just barely touching the vast wonders this city can offer, but I’ll be back.

Anyway here’s my photos from two days of random wanderings including a visit to the famous Recoleta cemetery near the centre of the city and some decent thai food at Green Curry.  Argentina’s upper class certainly get the best even in death.
