Birthday Beach Park

Sometimes sad things happen. Some times silly people lose go pr’s somewhere between Peru and Brazil and so lose all there photos and almost all there videos from an amazing day spent with his awesome family of sorts after an incredible day at South america’s biggest waterpark celebrating Vinny and Felipe’s birthday with a special long weekend trip to the north of Brazil.  In other words, sometimes Luke is an idiot.  Sorry everyone.

Now it’s not all bad news as I’ll still write a brief rundown of what was a very fun day with Vinny, Felipe, Dona Ana and Renata, full of adrenalin and fun water attractions.

For those who don’t know Beach park is located just outside the city of Fortaleza Brazil in North Eastern Brazil.  Yes I was in Fortaleza just two months ago but it’s always nice to come back to a city like that and this time I’ve got the best company a boy could ask for.  We’re there to celebrate Vinny and Felipe’s Birthday who are turning 13 and 10 respectively.

Beach park is a child’s dream come true and the inner child in me loved every second of this place with absurdly huge water slides and every other water based them park attraction you could ever imagine.

We took two ubers to get there and one uber to get back and paid the entrance fee which at around 210 reals is pretty ridiculous but still it will turn into an amazing day.

We head in and take a few of the more relaxed options to start the day all going around a current circle on some tubes, me and Felipe having a great time splashing the rest of our little group, but then comes the real fright as we head up one of the multi coloured monstrosities that serve as entrances for a collection of insane waterslides.

Vinny, being utterly insane climbs higher than the rest of us and goes in one of the scariest slides of the park, a capsul where you shoot down a closed side with so many loops that just looking at it makes the my whole body shake.  The rest of us choose one where you go down on a quad tube that frankly still looks far too terrifying for my likely.  To give you an idea I’ve included one of two tidbits left over from our trip thanks to the wonders of youtube.

After that we do a few calmer ones, though in an enclosed black one I end up falling off the tube after the ride and smashing my head on the bottom of the pool blurring the next couple of hours a bit. We spend hours at beachpark exploring a wave pool, an incredible water playground with smaller slides and a huge bucket that fills up then tips over drenching all those brave enough to stand under the sort of on and off man made waterfall.

Then we head over to one of the other gargantuan towers of waterslides and somehow Vinny persuades me to try one of those verging on big with him in a two man tube.  Now I’m not proud of a lot of the sounds I make in either of these videos, but they are what they are, and maybe this is the universe telling me that I’m kind of sort of a grown up.  As regrettable as that may be.

Somehow I end up doing this yellow one three times with Vinny.  Eventually though our day is coming to an end as the sun is setting so we head down for a brief stop at the stunning beach alongside beachpark, Vinny and I going for a swim in the ocean before returning to our lovely air bnb in the center of fortaleza and celebrating with cake, ice cream and presents.  I hope it was a great birthday celebration for both Vinny and Felipe though it’s only part 1 of 2 as tomorrow we’re waking up around 3 am to get to Jericoacoara for a day trip as a family.  So much fun.  Stay tuned and once again, I’m sorry for losing all the pictures.  (And my go pro GRRRRRR)
